KPN International & Solar Group sign significant pan-European network deal

Von : auf : 4-7-2011 00:00

KPN International provides one network for all Solar’s business-critical applications.

Solar, Northern Europe’s leading technical wholesaler, has contracted KPN International as its sole provider of WAN services across all operations. The four year contract will deliver consistently high network quality to sites in Denmark (HQ), Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden and the Faroe Islands.

Solar supplies a full spectrum of products to the commercial and housing building and renovation sectors and to the industry. These range from electrical installation equipment and security systems to heating and sanitary products. The success of their business depends on faultless and instant communication across the supply and delivery chain, and that demands the highest performance for both client-facing systems and Enterprise Resource Planning.

Solar wanted to centralize ICT at an international level as a means of raising the consistency and quality of services, and to drive out cost. KPN International, as the incumbent provider to Solar’s Dutch operation, made a compelling case for assuming full responsibility for all international WAN services. They had a robust international governance model, good relationships with local providers, and a stong track record in serving Scandinavian companies internationally. Solar depend on 24/7 availability to deliver the highest quality of service to their own customers.

KPN International did not only win on cost. The company also provides Solar with detailed and intelligent reporting on application performance across all networks, and manages traffic dynamically according to Solar’s business priorities.

The four-year, €7 million contract uses the KPN International pan-European Next-Generation Network. The contract is framed by end-to-end Service Level Agreements and ensures continuity with full network redundancy at all sites. Phase I of the roll-out is already completed, in accordance with all agreed deadlines and budgets.
